Born in the Southwest, George is strongly connected with the rhythm of the Pacific beaches and the great forests of California. George’s love of nature is at the root of his work. Although aesthetically industrial, his minimalist, intrinsically scientific work deals directly with nature’s most humanly relevant, sublime and potentially dangerous properties: force, entropy, climatic volatility and jeopardy.
In his most recent work, Double Concave Gravity Bend X, George’s emblematic use of clamps supply a focused pressure and tension. This creates an opportunity for the viewer, with misplaced confidence, to get close in detailed observation, leading to a sudden and startling realization of gravity’s power and the force of the universe that is pressing down on the fragile glass structure before him.
